Montana and Chris' Elopement in Colorado

I don't really have the words when it comes to Chris and Montana. I can honestly say that spending their wedding day with them in Colorado one Monday in August with them was a highlight of my year. The connection I felt with these two amazing humans was something beautiful, right from the start, and my biggest hope is that these photos are an accurate and beautiful representation of both who they are together and what they mean to me.

Chris and Montana flew from their home in Perth, Australia out to Tabernash, Colorado to say their vows to each other in the mountains. Montana packed up her Sarah Seven wedding dress and brought it over in her carry-on. They didn't want the stress of a big wedding or a huge guest list, and their day couldn't have been more simple and down to earth. I met them the night before their elopement and together we scouted out their ceremony spot - an open field, mountains in the background with the occasional stray line of horses running through far in the background. Deep in the woods of Devils Thumb Ranch in Tabernash, Colorado, their wedding day together was an accurate description of how they spend a lot of their days. The morning started with writing out their vows to one another, taking time separately to write from the heart before moving onto coffee and picking wildflowers for the cabin. We ended the day with champagne in the same spot, on the same couch, talking late into the night.

Forging relationships are absolutely, hands down my favorite part of photographing elopements and weddings. Photography is so collaborative and together we made the below images, speaking of who Chris and Montana are and what their wedding day symbolizes for their future. I couldn't be more grateful both to know them and to have been a part of their elopement.
